A count is not an estimate. A receptacle on a plan is a device, a box, a cover plate, a branch raceway allowance, conductors, and the labor to install all of it. That expansion is where an electrical estimate is actually made or lost.

Aginera does not ship a licensed NECA labor-unit library, and we would rather say so than let you find out during a bid. Each assembly carries its own labor hours, and those hours, your crew rates and every material cost are yours to configure — so if you estimate to NECA columns or to your own historical productivity, you set the rates to match. What is actually in an assembly?

Take a 20A duplex receptacle. The assembly expands to the receptacle itself, a cover plate, a 4-inch square box, a 25 LF 3/4-inch EMT branch allowance and 75 LF of #12 THWN-2 conductor — carried at 0.75 labor hours. A GFCI of the same size carries 0.9 hours; a quad runs two circuits and 150 LF of conductor at 1.1 hours; a single-pole switch is 0.55 hours; a ceiling occupancy sensor 0.65; a recessed fixture 0.85. Every component line is visible and editable — nothing is a black box you have to accept.

Does it use NECA labor units?

No, and it is worth being precise rather than implying otherwise. Aginera does not ship a licensed NECA labor-unit library. Each assembly carries its own labor hours — ranging from a few hundredths of an hour for a trim item up to 24 hours for major equipment — and those hours, along with crew rates and every material cost, are yours to set. If you already estimate to NECA columns or to your own historical productivity, you configure the rates to match rather than adopting ours. Contractors whose entire method is a licensed labor-unit database with decades of published columns should know that is a genuine difference between Aginera and Accubid, IntelliBid or McCormick.

Where do the material costs come from?

From a resolution hierarchy, not a single database, and the source is recorded per line so you can see what priced it. The order is: a vendor quote you have on the project, then your own tenant cost library, then a closed-bid comparable, then the regional rate library, then an internal default. The estimate is computed deterministically — normalised quantity × unit cost × labor factor × project condition multipliers — rather than being asked of a language model.

Can I use my own labor rates and material prices?

Yes — that is the intended way to run it. Your cost library sits above the regional and default rates in the resolution order, so once you load your own pricing it wins for every item it covers, and the fallbacks only fill the gaps. Vendor quotes captured against a live project outrank even that.

What electrical components does the AI recognize?
